San Antonio police said a security officer at a business on the East Side is expected to recover after being stabbed Friday night during a shoplifting incident. The attack occurred when the officer confronted a suspect accused of stealing merchandise from the store. According to authorities, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the security officer before fleeing the scene.
Officers responded to the business around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault. They found the security officer with a stab wound to his upper body. Emergency medical crews treated him at the scene before transporting him to a local hospital. Police later confirmed his injuries were not life-threatening and that he was in stable condition.
Investigators are still searching for the suspect, described as a male in his 20s. No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning. The incident remains under review, with detectives looking at surveillance footage and speaking to witnesses. Police have not released the name of the business or the security officer.
