Georgia's annual Small Business Opportunity Week is back, offering a fresh lineup of events and resources for local entrepreneurs. The initiative, organized by the Georgia Business Council, aims to bridge the gap between small companies and the tools they need to scale up. This year's program runs for five days, packed with workshops, networking sessions, and direct access to state and federal contracting officers.
The focus is on practical growth. Attendees can expect sessions on securing capital, navigating government procurement, and leveraging digital marketing. There will also be specialized tracks for minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned businesses, which often face higher barriers to entry. Organizers have emphasized that this is not just about handing out information. They want to create real connections between business owners and the people who can actually move the needle, whether that means landing a first big contract or finding a mentor who has been through the wringer.
Beyond the workshops, the week will feature a resource fair with representatives from more than twenty agencies and private lenders. Small business owners can get one-on-one time to ask specific questions about their own challenges. The council notes that while Georgia has seen strong job growth in recent years, many smaller firms still struggle to keep up with larger competitors. This event is designed to level the playing field, giving local shops and startups a clearer path to public and private sector opportunities.
Registration is now open, and many of the sessions are free or low cost. Organizers are expecting a strong turnout, especially from rural counties where access to such resources is often limited. For anyone running a small business in Georgia, this week could be the push they need to take the next step.
