The owner of a popular Murfreesboro indoor play space says a mistake by the state has drained her business bank account, leaving her struggling to keep the doors open. Cayla Poindexter, who runs Kids Corner, told local reporters that a processing error from a state agency caused thousands of dollars to be pulled from her account without warning.
Poindexter explained that the funds were meant to cover a routine tax or fee payment, but the state took far more than required. When she tried to resolve the issue, she faced long wait times and confusing paperwork. By the time the error was acknowledged, the money was already gone, and her business was left with little cash to pay rent, staff, and utility bills.
Kids Corner is a small indoor play space designed for young children, offering a safe place to play during cold or rainy days. Poindexter said the business was already recovering from slow seasons and rising costs. The unexpected loss has forced her to delay payments and cut back on hours.
She is now calling on state officials to fix the system that allowed the error to happen. Poindexter hopes that by speaking out, she can raise awareness and possibly recover the lost funds. For now, she is asking the community for patience and support as she fights to keep Kids Corner alive.
