Santa Fe is known for its art, adobe architecture, and green chile, but now the city is putting its sugary side on display. A new walking tour called the Santa Fe Churros, Biscochitos & Sweet Treats Walking Tour has officially launched, offering locals and visitors a guided route through the downtown area's most beloved dessert destinations.
The tour covers just half a mile, making it an easy stroll for anyone craving something sweet. It features several stops where participants can sample traditional New Mexican favorites like biscochitos -- the official state cookie -- as well as churros and other pastries. Organizers designed the route to highlight small bakeries and shops that have been serving these treats for generations.
While the tour focuses on classic sweets, it also includes a few modern twists. Some stops offer chocolate-dipped churros, spiced hot chocolate, and seasonal fruit pastries. The idea is to show that Santa Fe's dessert scene goes far beyond the standard donut shop.
The tour is self-guided, meaning people can walk it at their own pace. Maps are available at the starting point, and each participating shop offers a special sample or discount for tour-goers. The route is designed to be accessible and family-friendly, with plenty of benches and shade along the way.
Local business owners hope the tour will draw more foot traffic to the downtown area and introduce visitors to the unique flavors of the region. For anyone with a sweet tooth, this half-mile walk might be the best way to experience Santa Fe.
