Baton Rouge private equity firm Bernhard Capital Partners has struck a deal to acquire Bowman Consulting Group, an engineering and infrastructure services company based in Reston, Virginia. The transaction will be an all-cash buyout, though the exact terms were not disclosed in the initial announcement.
Bowman Consulting operates across the United States with a focus on land development, transportation, and utility infrastructure. The firm has grown steadily in recent years through a series of acquisitions, building a footprint in both public and private sector work. Its clients include real estate developers, municipal governments, and energy companies.
Bernhard Capital, which specializes in investments in the services and infrastructure sectors, said the purchase aligns with its strategy of backing firms that provide essential services with long-term demand. The firm has made several similar acquisitions in the past, often keeping existing management teams in place to run day-to-day operations.
The deal is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. Once completed, Bowman will operate as a portfolio company of Bernhard Capital. The leadership team at Bowman is expected to remain in place, and the company will keep its headquarters in Virginia.
Industry observers see the move as another sign of continued consolidation in the engineering services space, as private equity firms look for stable cash flows and recurring revenue from infrastructure-related work. No further details on financing or post-deal plans have been released.
