Pittsburgh police are searching for a man with active felony warrants who allegedly crashed a vehicle into a local business before fleeing on foot. The incident unfolded late Tuesday evening when officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in the city's East End. According to authorities, the driver refused to stop and sped away, initiating a short pursuit.
The chase ended abruptly when the suspect lost control of the car and plowed into the front of a small storefront on Penn Avenue. Surveillance footage shows the vehicle smashing through the glass and metal frame before coming to a halt inside the building. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash followed by the sound of shattering glass.
Police say the driver immediately jumped out of the wrecked car and ran off into a nearby residential area. Officers set up a perimeter and searched the neighborhood with K-9 units, but were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported among bystanders or the driver. The business sustained significant structural damage and was temporarily closed for repairs.
The suspect is described as a male in his late 20s, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Police have not released his name but confirmed he is wanted on multiple felony warrants unrelated to this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
