Stewart Trail Fire Grows to Nearly 400 Acres, Destroying Properties and Shutting Businesses

Firefighters continued battling the Stewart Trail Fire on Saturday as the blaze expanded to nearly 400 acres, forcing evacuations and leaving a trail of destruction across parts of the North Shore. The fast-moving wildfire has already destroyed several homes and properties, while local businesses in the affected areas have been forced to close their doors indefinitely.

Crews worked through the night to establish containment lines, but shifting winds and dry conditions have made progress difficult. Officials reported that the fire, which started earlier this week, has shown erratic behavior, jumping roads and threatening additional structures. Evacuation orders remain in place for several neighborhoods, with emergency shelters set up to accommodate displaced residents.

The economic impact is already being felt. Small businesses, including a popular cafe and a hardware store, have shuttered as the fire encroaches. Owners expressed uncertainty about when they might reopen, with some reporting significant damage to their buildings. "We don't know what we'll find when we go back," one shopkeeper said.

Firefighting resources from multiple agencies have been deployed, including air tankers and helicopters dropping water and retardant. No injuries have been reported so far, but officials warn that the situation remains volatile. Residents are urged to stay informed and follow evacuation orders as containment efforts continue through the weekend.
