Jim Cramer Is Sad About nternational Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM)’s Performance

Jim Cramer Is Sad About nternational Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM)’s Performance

Jim Cramer has long been a cheerleader for International Business Machines Corporation, but even he is having a hard time spinning the recent stock action. Shares of the tech giant have tumbled 23 percent since the start of the year and are down 12 percent over the last twelve months. That kind of slide is enough to test anyone's patience, and Cramer is clearly feeling the sting.

The main culprit is the preliminary second-quarter earnings report that IBM dropped on July 14th. The numbers were rough, and the market has not let up since. Cramer had been vocal about his belief that IBM was turning a corner, especially with its focus on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence. But the latest figures suggest that the turnaround is taking longer than he hoped, and the Street is not willing to wait.

What makes it worse for Cramer is that he has defended the stock publicly, telling viewers to stick with it through the transition. Now he is left to explain why the shares keep sinking despite his optimism. He has acknowledged that the earnings miss was a real setback, and he is not hiding his disappointment. For a guy who usually finds a silver lining, this one is tough to polish.
