Emory University has named Saby Mitra as the next dean of the Goizueta Business School, effective July 1. Mitra, currently a senior associate dean at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business, will succeed current dean Karen Sedatole, who announced her departure earlier this year.
Mitra brings over two decades of experience in business education and academic leadership. At Florida, he oversaw curriculum development, faculty recruitment, and strategic planning for the business school. His research focuses on information systems, digital transformation, and the intersection of technology and business strategy. He holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and has published extensively in top-tier journals.
Emory provost Ravi Bellamkonda praised Mitra's track record in fostering innovation and building partnerships across industries. "Saby's vision aligns with our commitment to preparing leaders who can navigate complex global challenges," Bellamkonda said in a statement.
Mitra said he looks forward to building on Goizueta's reputation for rigorous academics and ethical leadership. "This is a moment of tremendous opportunity for business education," he said. "I am eager to work with faculty, students, and alumni to deepen the school's impact."
Goizueta Business School enrolls roughly 3,000 students across undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral programs. It is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the United States.
