4 Fargo businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

4 Fargo businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

Four Fargo businesses have failed recent alcohol compliance checks, marking the first such failures for each establishment in over a year. The checks, conducted by local law enforcement in coordination with the North Dakota Department of Revenue, involved underage decoys attempting to purchase alcohol. All four businesses sold alcohol to the minor without requesting identification.

The failed businesses include two bars, a convenience store, and a restaurant. Each location had previously passed compliance checks without incident for at least 12 consecutive months. Authorities noted that the failures were isolated and not part of a broader trend among Fargo retailers.

Penalties for the violations vary. First-time offenders typically face a fine and mandatory training for employees. Repeat violations can lead to license suspension or revocation. The businesses have been notified and will have the opportunity to respond before any final action is taken.

Local officials emphasized the importance of responsible alcohol sales, especially during the summer months when underage drinking incidents often rise. They reminded all licensed establishments to check IDs carefully and train staff on compliance procedures. The four businesses now face administrative hearings to determine the specific consequences of their violations.
