For George Taylor, the founder of Frive meals, building a business was not just about entrepreneurship. It was about survival. Taylor says that before he started the microwave meal company, he had nothing to wake up for. That emptiness, he explains, led him down a deeply self-destructive path.
Taylor describes a period where he felt completely untethered. Without a reason to get out of bed, his mental health deteriorated rapidly. He says the lack of structure and purpose made it easy to spiral. The idea for Frive came not from a business plan, but from a desperate need to create a reason to exist.
The company, which focuses on healthy, convenient microwave meals, became that reason. Taylor threw himself into the work. He says the daily demands of sourcing ingredients, managing production, and building a brand gave him a framework he had been missing. The responsibility of the business forced him to take care of himself, because the business needed him.
Now, Taylor looks at Frive as more than a revenue stream. He calls it a lifeline. The act of creating something and serving customers gave him a sense of value that he could not find on his own. He credits the business with literally saving his life, pulling him out of a dark place by giving him something to fight for every single day.
